  • All Staff: Choose ONE Keynote and ONE Lunch

  • Required Sessions: Attend sessions that are noted as required for your role. This will be communicated from the department or area you work with (Exceptional Children, Student Services, etc.). 

  • Filtering Sessions: You can filter sessions by clicking “Filter By Type” on the left-hand side of the page on the desktop version of Sched. “All Teachers” Sessions are for all staff. “K-2 Teachers” are targeted for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grade Teachers, 9-12 Teachers for High School teachers, etc. For example, a Kindergarten teacher can click “K-2 Teachers” and see all sessions that would apply to them. You can further filter by sub-type in each area, by hovering over the type: review session titles and descriptions for more specific information. The search feature in the top right is also helpful for finding sessions using keywords.

  • Networking and Collaboration Sessions: These sessions are provided for many content areas, grade levels, and specialty areas. Filter by the session type that best matches your role to see if a Networking and Collaboration/Job Alike session is offered.

Syllables and Nonsense Word Fluency

K-3 Teachers will learn the importance of syllable instruction and the direct relationship word parts have with nonsense word fluency. Teachers will know more about the 6 syllable types, syllable division and how to connect syllable fluency to nonsense word fluency. Teachers will be able to show students the real world connection between syllable fluency and nonsense word fluency. Teachers will spend time breaking multisyllabic words into syllable parts and practice the nonsense word fluency strategy with other members of their group. Teachers will be provided resources from LETRs manuals, amplify instruction materials and lists of multisyllabic words that are appropriate for each grade level.

They will gain knowledge of practical strategies and activities that will strengthen their instruction of fluency. Participants will have time to explore the Fluency Instructional Guide that is linked on the CCS Canvas Course as well as participate in some activities that build fluency throughout the instructional day.

A Walk Through the LETRS Comprehension Checklist

Participants will walk through the phases of Comprehension Instruction: Before Reading, During Reading and After Reading using the LETRS Comprehension Checklist. They will explore examples of a comprehension plan using the LETRS Comprehension Checklist along with ideas on how and when to implement the checklist.
