  • All Staff: Choose ONE Keynote and ONE Lunch

  • Required Sessions: Attend sessions that are noted as required for your role. This will be communicated from the department or area you work with (Exceptional Children, Student Services, etc.). 

  • Filtering Sessions: You can filter sessions by clicking “Filter By Type” on the left-hand side of the page on the desktop version of Sched. “All Teachers” Sessions are for all staff. “K-2 Teachers” are targeted for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grade Teachers, 9-12 Teachers for High School teachers, etc. For example, a Kindergarten teacher can click “K-2 Teachers” and see all sessions that would apply to them. You can further filter by sub-type in each area, by hovering over the type: review session titles and descriptions for more specific information. The search feature in the top right is also helpful for finding sessions using keywords.

  • Networking and Collaboration Sessions: These sessions are provided for many content areas, grade levels, and specialty areas. Filter by the session type that best matches your role to see if a Networking and Collaboration/Job Alike session is offered.

The United Nations of the Spanish Speaking Countries: Awareness Day and Social Issues that Impact and Affect the Spanish Speaking countries

The main purpose of this presentation is to investigate social Issues that impact and effect the Spanish Speaking countries and create an awareness day for all the students. Those countries have many places of interest for tourist to visit and enjoy, but we need to be aware of problems that affect each country before visiting. Among the problems that affect those countries are: problems with the water system, poverty, an alarming increase in crimes, pollution, etc. This session is appropriate for Honors and AP Courses as well.

P2 and Beyond: Taking P2 Outside the Classroom

The presentation will showcase how HES took concepts learned at RISE and expanded upon them to create unique P2 videos and discussions that engage students beyond the classroom. Presenters will share how to push students to use P2 vocabulary throughout their day including when they interact with peers. Participants will learn how to incorporated P2 in other programs areas that they may use at their school. There will also be a focus on how to encourage staff and students to be intentional with P2 language.



**We presented this at the Positivity Project & Wellness Showcase and were asked to consider presenting at RISE.**

Teaching Outside the Box - Utilizing Small Groups in a High School Classroom

Led by teachers that have made the move from the middle to high school classroom, educators will learn strategies to engage students with common core
standards/curriculum while building relationships. The session is beneficial for both
middle and high school educators looking to develop strong relationships with students,
reduce behavior concerns in the classroom and motivate students to engage in lessons. Teachers will learn how to incorporate and utilize small groups in a secondary setting.
Teachers will leave the session with strategies to implement in their own classrooms and
take their teaching outside the box for the 2024-2025 school year.

Attendees will learn from the first hand experiences of 2 middle school teachers that took
the leap into high school and reignited a passion for teaching. They have taken the
methods they used in middle school to build relationships and grow student knowledge
with engaging lessons to their high school classrooms and love teaching outside the
box.

Our session focuses on the social emotional state of our students at NCMS as well as North Carolina data, by comparing panorama/ statistical data to ACES questionaries, In an effort to facilitate a school wide trauma informed classroom management approach. Attendees will experience opportunities to reflect on current classroom management styles, and the receptiveness of common student profiles. Attendees will also have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues about a widened perspective in regards to creating a warm school and classroom climate.

We will talk about how teachers can use this concept in a classroom or collaborate with others to create engaging learning experiences while working on 21st century skills.
