  • Filtering Sessions: You can filter sessions by clicking “Filter By Type” on the left-hand side of the page on the desktop version of Sched. “All Teachers” Sessions are for all staff. “K-2 Teachers” are targeted for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grade Teachers, 9-12 Teachers for High School teachers, etc. For example, a Kindergarten teacher can click “K-2 Teachers” and see all sessions that would apply to them. You can further filter by sub-type in each area, by hovering over the type: review session titles and descriptions for more specific information. The search feature in the top right is also helpful for finding sessions using keywords.

No Fear, We're Here! Superpowers for Parent-Teacher Conferences

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The purpose of this session is to provide participants with strategies to lead effective, productive parent conferences. The strategies and resources provided will lead to an increase in parent participation and improvements in the academic and behavioral growth of students. The audience will be engaged throughout the session by participating in scenarios and skits following each teaching point to practice strategies they have learned. Our goal is to remove the apprehension teachers sometimes feel when communicating with parents that can lead to barriers to student success. We will provide research-based strategies along with excerpts from the book Crucial Conversations written by Joseph Granny, Kerry Patterson, Ron McMillan, Al Switzler, and Emily Gregory to equip teachers with the confidence they need to approach parents and have effective conferences. Participants will leave not only feeling empowered, but equipped with SUPERPOWERS to take parent teacher conferences to the next level!
